About the Work
This is a set of two art songs for baritone and soprano, both with piano. The first song is a setting of a poem by Oliver Zerouali, exploring personal themes of identity and self-discovery. The second song meditates on womanhood, agency, and power dynamics through a setting of a translation of a poem by Julia de Burgos done by Laura Miah. The two songs need not necessarily be performed together, but when staged so, they should be performed in order and flow quasi attacca.
